NBA -- Hornets down Rockets, extend win streak to seven By Eric Biasbas PhilBoxing.com Sun, 13 Mar 2016 CHARLOTTE -- The capacity crowd of 19,303 at the Time Warner Cable Arena was treated to another dominant fourth quarter performance by their home team, the Charlotte Hornets, as they brushed off the Houston Rockets,125-109 and registered their season-best seventh victory in a row. The Hornets, the only undefeated NBA team in the month of March also snapped a 10-game losing streak against the Rockets. Ahead by only 3 points at the start of the fourth period, the Hornets used a blistering 17-2 run that turned a close game into a blowout. The lead grew to as big as 24 points and the Rockets never recovered. "They're a good offensive team", losing Rockets' coach J.B.Bickerstaff told reporters. "They're quick in their decisions. I thought we fought hard, but we just did not have it." Center Dwight Howard commented, "They moved the ball really well. They stayed patient in their offense." Charlotte started the game red hot, outscoring Houston 34-19 in the first period. The Rockets, led by Howard and Cory Brewer made a run in the second period to close the half trailing 57-62. Kemba Walker, 26 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists was once again unstoppable and had a lot of help in this game. Marvin Williams started the fireworks for the Hornets, scoring 14 points in the first quarter and finished with 25 points. Nic Batum tallied 25 points, 8 rebs and 8 assists. Off the bench, big man Al Jefferson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Playing against his former team, Jeremy Lin poured in 16 points. 'Different guys made plays", Walker said. "It was a special night because everybody chimed in. It was a great win." Nic Batum said, "We're in good roll. Each and every guy knows what he has to do on the court. We have a good game plan. We try to execute this plan. We're having fun on the court. We enjoy playing with each other." Rockets's star James Harden bothered by the Hornets' defense had a miserable shooting night, going 2-of-14 from the field and finished with 12 points. Brewer had 21 points while Howard had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. The Hornets shot 15-of-31 three point field goals while Rockets only shot 5-of-26. Overall, Hornets shot 54.5% FG while Rockets only managed 46.2% With the win, the surging Hornets strengthen their hold of the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference with 37-28 W-L record, only half game behind the 38-28 Miami Heat.
