PRINCE ALBERT PAGARA BATTLES KO ARTIST FROM DOMINICAN REPUBLIC By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 20 Jan 2016 Jonathan Guzman. It took ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer several days and sleepless nights to get an opponent who was not afraid to fight unbeaten super bantamweight Prince Albert Pagara and at long last he has found one who accepted the challenge ? Dominican Republic KO artist Jonathan Guzman who is unbeaten in 20 fights with 20 knockouts. The fight will headline the tremendously successful ?Pinoy Pride? series 36th edition titled ?The Stars of the Future? at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu on February 27. Guzman is 26 years old and according to boxrec.com is handled by well-known international promoter and matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz. In his last fight on October 10, 2015 in which he scored a 9th round TKO in a scheduled ten round bout against Danny Aquino, a report on the fight said that Aquino pressured early behind his jab appearing to get off first by leading with and landing the left hook but Guzman connected with a solid counter-hook just before the bell sounded to end round one. Guzman came charging forward in round two to score two knockdowns, the first off a hook at 2:07 of the round and the second a right hand that followed a hook with 13 seconds left in the round but Aquino quickly got to his feet and lasted the round. Guzman counter-punching at the start of the 9th round landed a right hand and a finishing left hook that dropped Aquino once again and referee Jackie Morrell waved off the contest at the 1:19 mark. The ringside report said Jonathan Guzman not only improved to 20-0 with 20 knockouts with a ninth-round stoppage of Danny Aquino but the hammer-fisted fighter demonstrated veteran poise and the ability to be a boxer-puncher. 21 year old Prince Albert Pagara has a unbeaten record of 25-0 with 18 knockouts and is coming off an impressive 6th round knockout of tough William Gonzalez of Nicaragua last October 17 at the StubHub Center in Carson City, California to win the WBO Youth International supert bantamweight title. Pagara is ranked No. 4 by the WBO, No. 3 by the IBF amd No. 8 by the WBC while Guzman is rated No. 6 by the IBF and No. 15 by the WBA.
