NIETES REMAINS THE RING AND WBO JUNIOR FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION

Donnie "Ahas" Nietes successfully defended his World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior flyweight title against Juan "Pinky" Alejo of Mexico via a very convincing unanimous decision. The ALA Gym standout whose professional record improved to 37-1-4 (21 KOs) remained also as The Ring junior flyweight champion.

Nietes has been on the ratings list of the prestigious Bible of Boxing for 212 weeks or four years already on the latest ranking as of October 27, 2015.

The No. 1 Ring contender is Pedro Guevara of Mexico with a record of 26-1-1 (17 KOs). He is currently the WBC champion in the junior flyweight division.

The No. 2 contender Ryoichi Taguchi of Japan who has 22-2-1 (9 KOs) and the present WBA title holder.

The No. 3 contender is Javier Mendoza of Mexico with 24-2-1 (19 KOs) and currently the IBF champion.

No. 4 in the ranking is Filipino Randy Petalcorin whose record is 23-1-1 (18 KOs) and is still four weeks in the top ten list. The boxer from General Santos under the Peter Maniatis promotions in Melbourne, Australia is the interim WBA champion.

Mexican Raul Garcia is No.5 contender with a slate of 36-3-1 (22 KOs).

Another ALA Gym boxer Milan Melindo is at No. 6 with 32-2-0 (12 KOs).

At No. 7 is Alberto Rossel of Peru with 34-9-0 (13 KOs).

Another Filipino Rey Loreto is No.8 with 20-13-0 (12 KOs). The fighter from La Trinidad, Benguet is the IBO champion. He is managed by the Baguio-based Brico Santig.

The No. 9 contender is Mexican Francisco Rodriguez with 17-3-1 (11 KOs).

At No. 10 is another Filipino Jonathan Taconing with 22-2-1 (18 KOs). Managed by Johnny Elorde, the Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte native is the present OPBF champion.

Other Filipino boxers in the prestigious Ring ratings include:

Denver Cuello, No. 8 strawweight
Johnriel Casimero, No. 10 flyweight
Arthur Villanueva, No. 9 junior bantamweight
Nonito Donaire, No. 3 junior featherweight
Genesis Servania, No.4 junior featherweight
Albert Pagara, No.6 junior featherweight
Manny Pacquiao, No. 2 welterweight and No. 8 pound for pound
