NBA Playoffs -- Warriors stun Pels in Game 3, soar to 3-0 lead By Absalon Inocian, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sat, 25 Apr 2015 New Orleans ? Can the Pelicans bounce back in game 3? That was the big question mark when the New Orleans Pelicans lost the first two games of their best-of-7 first-round series against the Golden State Warriors. Thursday night was the Pelicans' first playoff game in the Big Easy since 2011 and the sold-out crowd was a huge factor in the anticipated event. ?WE HAD IT! UNBELIEVABLE!? This was all the fans could mumble while walking out of the Smoothie King Center after midnight as their beloved Pelicans lost a heart-breaking Game 3. The Pelicans were up by 20 points at the start of the fourth quarter before the Warriors rallied and prevailed in overtime, 123-119. ?You have to take ownership of it. You can?t sugar coat it. We are all feeling like dirt right now. Obviously, we want to build them up but there?s nothing that can build you up in a situation like this. It can be a growth moment for us.? Pelicans head coach Monty Williams said during the post-game interview. ?It?s just tough to have a game and to lose it that way. There?s no way to fix it right away, we got to deal with and own it.? He added. The Pelicans? fourth quarter execution and Warriors? offensive rebounds hurt the Pels in the last quarter. ?Second chance points hurt us; I think they have ten offensive rebounds in the 4th quarter. They just keep going to the basket. Down the stretch we didn?t execute the game plan in the fourth quarter.? Coach Williams was not happy about the execution. The Pelicans locker room was completely quiet and upset. "Against a team like this, you can't relax. You've got to keep being aggressive and we missed shots. We've got to do a better job executing and following our game plan, especially late in the game." Pelicans Forward Anthony Davis said. "There's not that much you can say. We know what we did wrong," Davis said. "We've got to try to get our minds right for Saturday." He added. Anthony Davis made 29 points and 15 rebounds. Ryan Anderson had a big game tonight contributing 26 points. Tyreke Evans added 19 and Norris Cole did 16. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 40 points and 9 assists. Klay Thompson made 28 points. Draymond Green added 12 points and 17 rebounds. Photo: MVP candidate Steph Curry (L) dished 40 points to lead the Warriors past the Pelicans in OT, 123-119, on Thursday night in New Orleans.
