PETALCORIN STOPS MA YI MING IN BEIJING; FULL CHINA BOUT REPORT

BEIJING ? Randy Petalcorin of the Philippines retained the WBA interim world light flyweight title by first round TKO against Ma Yi Ming of China at the Capital Arena here in Beijing. It was a swift and savage start by Petalcorin who launched a two-fisted attack from the opening bell.

Sensing that Ma was still hurt when he got up from the first knockdown, Petalcorin continued the pressure, sending his opponent down the second time. Ma bravely rose from the canvas but was pinned on the ropes and another barrage sent him down the third time.

With the three knockdown rule in effect in WBA title bouts, Referee Raul Caiz,Jr stopped the contest at the 1:46 mark.
The hometown crowd and Ma?s corner were stunned as Petalcorin?s team celebrated inside the ring.

During the post-fight press conference, Petalcorin said that he never expected to score a win in the opening round. But he knew he could hurt the challenger if he caught him. Ma for his part said that he made a mistake by being aggressive and forgetting his footwork.

Petalcorin is now 23W-1L-1D,18KO's while Ma Yi Ming drops to 12-6,7KO?s.

This was Petalcorin?s second win on Chinese soil. Last August in Shanghai, he captured his title by beating Panama?s Walter Tello in seven rounds.

QU PENG WINS WBO CHINA TITLE

Qu Peng of China captured the WBO China light heavyweight title also by first round TKO against Dane Campbell of Australia. Hard one-two combos decked Campbell twice and another series of punches prompted referee Atty. Danrex Tapdasan decided to end the carnage as Campbell?s cornerman threw in the towel.. Time ? 2:34.

The WBO fight was supervised by WBO Asia-Pacific VP Leon Panoncillo. The bouts were officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission.

RESULTS OF UNDERCARDS:

Yelieqiati Nihemaituola won a unanimous decision against Liu Peng Fei, scores by Jia Ya Nan, Tony Pesons and Surat Soikrachang had it 40-36, Adili Abulimiti beat Huang Ju Xiang by unanimous verdict, all three judges Iu Kin Hang Samson, Jia Ya Nan and Tony Pesons had it 58-56.

Xia Shun Kai knocked down Thai Kajornsak Sithsaithong in round three and won by unanimous decision. Danrex Tapdasan, Edward Ligas and Zhang Lei had it 60-53. Zulipikar Maimaitiali stopped Thai Yotkunsuk Mor.Pouwana in 5 rounds. The Thai was down in the opening round. Referee Surat Soikrachang stopped the fight after an accumulation punches on Yotkunsuk. Xu Que beat Peng Ding Gui by TKO in the third round.

The fight billed as FIST OF POWER III was made possible by the partnership of SECA and TOP RANK.
