NBA -- Kings reign over Hornets, 113-106 By Eric Biasbas PhilBoxing.com Thu, 12 Mar 2015 CHARLOTTE -- The hot shooting Sacramento Kings snapped a four-game losing streak by prevailing over the slipping Charlotte Hornets,113-106 on Wednesday night at Time Warner Cable Arena. The victory was George Karl's fourth in 11 games since joining the Kings as head coach. He was very pleased with his boys and said "We had a lot of contributions in a lot of ways. I don't know if there's a player in my team that played poorly." The Hornets had no answers for their opponents' big guns as three Kings players finished with 20 or more points. Ben Mclemore 27, Rudy Gay, 26 and Demarcus Cousins 20. In the late minutes of the game, the Kings made all the clutch plays while the Hornets could not make the necessary stops as Cousins and Gay hit some big shots. With the score 106-104 in favor of the Kings, Rudy Gay made a driving lay up and was fouled and hit the bonus charity to seal the fate of the Hornets. Demarcus Cousins said, " We made some good plays down the stretch. We did a good job reading their defense". Hornets head coach Steve Clifford was very frustrated with his team's performance. "We're not going to outscore anybody. Let's face it. We got to defend, rebound and be smarter in offense. If we're going to play like this, forget the playoffs. We can't win like this." Al Jefferson was lost in the third quarter with right calf injury and is day to day, compounding the woes of the Hornets. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scored a season high 23 points for the Hornets. Mo Williams had 20. Gerald Henderson added 17 points. Kemba Walker returned for the Hornets after an 18 game absence (left Knee surgery) and scored 6 Points in 16 minutes. The Kings improved to 22-41. Their victory put a dent to the Hornets playoff bid. The Hornets fell to 28-35, half a game behind Miami Heat for the eight and final playoff spot.
