NBA -- Bulls eclipse Suns to open 7-game home stand By Anthony Rozic PhilBoxing.com Mon, 23 Feb 2015 CHICAGO -- After a misstep in Detroit where they stumbled against the Pistons -100-91- on Friday night, the Chicago Bulls returned home on Saturday and recaptured their winning ways at the United Center. Pau Gasol led the charge with another routine double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds while Jimmy Butler added 19 points as the Bulls improved to 35-21 for third place in the Eastern Conference standings. It was a complete team effort for the Bulls, who got 16 points and five assists from Derrick Rose and 15 points and three triples from Mike Dunleavy. Taj Gibson and Aaron Brooks pitched in 12 points piece from the bench. "We're a versatile team. We're a flexible team that can be successful in different styles. But at the same time, we also have to understand what works best for us," Gasol said after the Bulls opened a 7-game home stand on a victorious note. After a hot 33-point first quarter start, the Bulls cooled off in the second quarter and managed only 19 points as the Suns pocketed a 56-52 halftime edge. More hot shooting from the Suns gave Phoenix an 81-73 bubble with only 2:05 left in the third period. But the Bulls righted the ship with a quick 15-4 spurt that gave them an 88-85 cushion early in the final quarter. The Bulls dominated the boards, 47-36, providing them with a huge advantage in a close game that saw nine lead changes and seven ties. The Bulls also shot well from the field -- 43 of 89 -- including 12 of 24 from long distance. P.J. Tucker had 20 points for the Suns and Marcus Morris finished with 17. But star guard Eric Bledsoe, who signed a reported 5-year, $70 million contract last summer, was held to only 13 points with five turnovers. With their fourth straight loss, the Suns fell to 29-27 and now trail the 30-25 Oklahoma City Thunder by 1.5 games for the eighth and last playoffs berth in the hotly-contested Western Conference.
