NBA -- Pacers Edge Hornets on Hill's game winner By Eric Biasbas PhilBoxing.com Mon, 09 Feb 2015 CHARLOTTE -- With 14 seconds left and his team behind by a point, George Hill breezed past Brian Roberts, streaked to the baseline, and swished a wide open floater that gave the Indiana Pacers a come from behind 103-102 win over the Charlotte Hornets at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Cody Zeller made the switch on the play but left Hill to go back to his man, David West. "There was nobody. I saw both their guys running back to D. West. I knew I could turn around and get to my go to shot, the floater" Hill said after his team's thrilling triumph on Sunday night.. " When a guard penetrates that deep, it's usually just a switch." Brian Roberts said of the play." It was a miss communication." Hornets' head coach Steve Clifford said " That was a basic blown coverage play." After Hill's basket, with 4 seconds and no timeouts left, Roberts made a desperation heave from 30 ft that hit the back rim, leaving the home crowd disheartened. The Hornets' guns were blazing early as Al Jefferson dominated Roy Hibbert in the paint. They led 56-39 at halftime but crumbled in the pivotal third quarter as the Pacers mounted repeated rallies and scored 36 points. Coach Clifford partly blamed himself for the meltdown. "The last 5 minutes of the third quarter, we played as bad as basketball we played all year. Totally disorganized, random and awful basketball on both ends of the floor. Terrible coached team" he lamented. CJ Watson had 22 points including 5 out of 8 from the three point line to lead the Pacers. Luis Scola contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds. David West and Rodney Stuckey both chipped in 15 points. Al Jefferson scored 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Hornets while Brian Roberts added 19. The Pacers (20-32) is now only two games behind Miami and Brooklyn for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets (22-28) remain in the 7th spot.
