NBA: Warriors Deny Knicks' Late Rally, 106-92 By Ben Paz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 09 Feb 2015 NEW YORK -- With Carmelo Anthony sitting out, the New York Knicks proved no match against the Golden State Warriors, losing a 106-92 decision on Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden. The Warriors went to work early and led 64-48 at the halftime break. And when the lead swelled to 26 points, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr rested his starters. The Knicks went on a 16-0 run in the fourth quarter and sliced their deficit to 95-90, but the rally fell short as the Warriors retaliated with a 9-2 spurt. Curry led Golden State with 22 points while Draymond Green posted a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Klay Thompson scored 16 points on 5 of 22 shooting while David Lee had 10 points and 10 rebounds. "We hold ourselves to high standards and high expectations, so we are kind of disappointed with the way we played, especially with a 20 point lead," Curry said. "We were a little fatigued and it showed, but that shouldn't be an excuse for how we executed on both ends of the floor." New York, which lost three in a row, got 15 points from Langston Galloway. Jason Smith had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Amar'e Stoudemire added 13 points and six rebounds in 17 minutes of play. "We are still becoming a team we want to be. Right now we are learning the hard way," Knicks said head coach Derek Fisher said. Both teams have two games left before the All Star festivities begin next week. On Monday, the Knicks travel to Florida to play the Miami Heat, while the Warriors continue their road trip to Philadelphia. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ben Paz. |
