BROOKLYN -- The Brooklyn Nets held the Philadelphia 76ers to only 25 second-half points to secure an 88-70 victory on Friday night at Barclays Center.
It was a back and forth encounter in the opening half where both teams shot poorly, but Brooklyn widened its lead during the fourth quarter as the Nets held the 76ers to 10 points last 12 minutes.
Philadelphia shot an abysmal 23.5 percent from the field overall. .
"We did a good job keeping the guys out of the paint, we won the rebound battle, and we won the turnover battle" Lionel Hollins said of the team's second half defense.
Mason Plumlee started in place of injured All-Star Brook Lopez and had a season high in scoring with 18 points while also tying his season high of 10 rebounds. Joe Johnson and Alan Anderson both added 12 points each. Deron Williams was scoreless (0-8 fg) but contributed 10 assists.
The 76ers were led by Robert Covington with 20 points. Reigning Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams had 14 points and nine assists while Henry Sims tallied 14 and Tony Wroten scored 12 off the bench.
The 76ers are an NBA-worst 2-20 after Friday night's loss.
