NBA -- Streaking Blazers win four in a row, Knicks lose 8 straight By Ben Paz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 09 Dec 2014 NEW YORK -- Lamarcus Aldridge scored six straight points late to lift the Portland Trail Blazer to a 103-99 win over the New York Knicks on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. It was the fourth straight win for the 16-4 Blazers while the 4-18 Knicks suffered their eighth consecutive setback. Carmelo Anthony led the host Knicks with 23 points and 10 rebounds while JR Smith had 20 points off of the bench, including seven straight points in the final quarter. Amar'e Stoudemire started at center for the second game in a row and carded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Iman Shumpert tallied 11 points. "I just think we're not taking advantage of the opportunities out there, whether it's offensively or defensively... We're not far away, the games that we're losing we are right there" Anthony told reporters. One of the toughest teams in the Western Conference, Portland has won 13 of its last 14 games. In addition to a 14-foot fadeaway jumper with 1:18 left, Aldridge had 24 total points and grabbed 11 boards. Damian Lillard scored 20 points while his backcourt partner Wesley Matthews added 18 more. Nicolas Batum contributed 11 points and seven assists. "He [Lamarcus Aldridge] does that often. We rely on him. He is a stabilizing influence on the offensive end," Terry Stotts said after the game. New York hopes to stop their skid as they travel to New Orleans to face the Pelicans on Monday while the Portland Trail Blazers travel to Detroit and look to continue their winning on Tuesday night.
