NBA -- Magic extend Knicks' losing streak to six By Ben Paz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 14 Nov 2014 ![]() NEW YORK -- The Orlando Magic handed the New York Knicks their sixth consecutive loss on Wednesday night by scoring a 97-95 victory in a closely-contested match at the Madison Square Garden. The Knicks led by as many as five in the fourth quarter before the Magic went back on top with a run. A Carmelo Anthony 3 pushed the Knicks to within 96-95 with 4.3 seconds left in the game clock, but after Evan Fournier split his charities to put Orlando ahead, 97-95, JR Smith missed a deep 3 that would have given New York the win. "The last play had multiple options ... once the ball came into J.R. (Smith), he trusted himself ... and he took the shot. I have no problem what he got," Knicks head coach Derek Fisher told reporters. Anthony had a team-high 27 points while Smith contributed 19 points off of the bench. Iman Shumpert, who fouled out in the fourth quarter. finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. "We have to do a better job of not fouling. That is something we have to be smarter about" said, Anthony, who sat out for two minutes in the middle of the fourth period after he committed his fifth personal foul. The fouls allowed the Magic 32 attempts at the free throw line versus the Knicks' 14. Evan Fournier led Orlando with a career-high 28 points with four steals. Nikola Vucevic had his sixth double-double of the season with 20 points and 13 boards. Tobias Harris tallied 12 points and rookie point guard Elfrid Payton had 8 assists. "We put in a lot of energy and I am just proud because it shows that we are a good team," Evan Fournier said after the game. The Magic travel to play the 4-4 Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night. The Knicks hope to get a win when they host the 3-6 Utah Jazz at the Garden on Friday.
