THE two Japanese boxers both vowed to score a knockout against their Filipino rivals in the double main-header of the “United Cup 12” of the United International Boxing Promotion slated tonight at 6 p.m. At the Mandaluyong Elementary School in Poblacion, Mandaluyong City.

Undefeated Erika Hanawa of Tokyo, Japan thinks that she can knockout her opponent Kristine “Lady Iron Fist” Latube in their 6-round battle for the vacant WBC Asia Silver female atomweight title.

Both of them tipped the scales at 100 lbs. Yesterday at the GAB Makati office.

“She's pretty. But maybe I can knockout her,” said Hanawa through her interpreter Elliot Warren.

The 25-year old Hanawa is still undefeated with four straight wins with one knockout while Latube, 24, has a record of 1W-9L-2D
Masazumi Furukawa, likewise, predicted that he will stop Geboi Mansalayao of Cagayan de Oro in the second or third round only in their 10-round championship match for the vacant WBC Asia Silver flyweight title.

“Yes I will KO him either in the second or third round only,” said the 40-year old Furukawa, who is making his comeback here in the Philippines.

Both Furukuwa and Mansalayao submitted 111 lbs. Yesterday.
WBC Asia supervisor Kiate Sirigol said that they will be very strict on the rules especially on the illegal headbutt.
The referee on the Hanawa-Latube fight is Noel Haduca while in the Furukawa-Mansalayao match is veteran Virgilio Garcia.
Meanwhile, two exciting tenners will also be featured in the undercard.

Richard Claveras of United Stable will face John Juan Purisima of General Santos City while Dayer Gabutan of Mountain Province takes on former ….champion Roilo Golez of Comval Province.
The other bouts: Edward Mancito vs. Julius Bala (8 rd.-124 lbs.), Milven Mananguil vs. John Michael Zulueta (6 rd.-108 lbs.), Bener Santig vs. Alimar Francisco (4 rd.-130 lbs.). - LITO DELOS REYES
