MARQUEZ?S STATED TERMS FOR A 4TH FIGHT ARE LUDICROUS PhilBoxing.com Thu, 17 Nov 2011 Reports indicate that Bob Arum may have started the ball rolling to put Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez again in the ring for the fourth time. In paper, that may seem good as it will give the fans another chance to see who indeed is better between the two world class gladiators. On the other side of the coin, I ask - For What? Pacquiao does not need Marquez to cement his legacy. That is already done! He does not need to prove anything against Marquez either. He has done that too. It is Marquez who needs the Pacman to seal his own legacy. Marquez, no matter how much he whines, does not deserve a 4th shot at Pacquiao. He is not going to do any better than his last three attempts to unseat the Pacman. I believe that no matter how many times Arum will fit the two against each other the results will be the same. The two are simply made for each other. Each one knows the other very well so if they fight again, the results will be the same. The fight is going to be very close in the ring and on the score cards. And again controversial! So what?s the use for a 4th fight? Marquez recently stated that for the 4th fight to happen his conditions must be followed. These include Pacquiao admitting that he lost in the third fight and that the fight be declared as a ?no-contest.? In addition he must be paid a whooping $10 million dollars and that the fight be held at Mexico City. What? Marquez must be nuts! Who in the hell does he thinks he is? As far as I am concerned, I think Arum should pursue other fights for Pacquiao. There are several options anyway. Incidentally, those options do not necessarily include Mayweather Jr. or another saga on the ring. Just like Marquez, at this point and time, who needs the loud mouth from Michigan anyway? Mayweather blew his chances to go against Pacman with all the demands he made in the past. At this point in the Pacman?s career, I think its best if he starts thinking more of himself and forget what everyone else is saying. He can accomplish far greater things without putting himself in jeopardy on top of the ring again. But if he chooses to give it one more go, perhaps a safer fight for the fans should be lined up. Tim Bradley would not be a bad option. Thereafter he should retire while he is ahead and serve his people as Governor of his province. Click here for a complete listing of columns by this author.
