CLASSLESS TEAM MARGARITO DESERVES NO MERCY PhilBoxing.com Thu, 11 Nov 2010 Arlington, Texas: After a long flight from Los Angeles, I assumed that when I get to my hotel and surf the web I will find lots of interesting articles about the big fight on Saturday. Well, I was half right. I found lots of good articles that talked out the big fight but I also run across those that talked about how Antonio ?Loaded Hands? Margarito and that little cocky Brandon Rios allegedly making fun of the Parkinson?s disease of Freddie Roach. What Margarito and Rios has done is unforgivable regardless how profusely Robert Garcia apologized for it during the presscon. Their action is totally classless, a classic sign of how much education those two ever had. It also manifested vividly how their mothers taught them while they were growing up. Judging from how they run their mouths, I would not be surprised if their mothers taught them nothing. Who in the world would believe that those two did not know that Roach has Parkinson?s when such has been all over the internet and even of television way before the fight at Texas was formalized and way before Rios even won the few fights he did that makes him think he is already a superstar. Perhaps they can be forgiven because they are too pre-occupied with their delusions of grandeur and did not have time to watch TV let alone the first three episodes of HBO?s 24/7 that spoke about Pacquiao and Margarito as they trained for the big fight. Forget about Rios. He is just a funk who won a few fights and has this self belief that he is full pledged star. In reality, he is nothing until he wins world titles and defends them several times. Margarito stating that he did not know that Roach has Parkinson?s is exactly the same as him saying that he did not know that his now-vanished trainer was loading his hands for the Mosley fight. Margarito in my opinion is a chronic liar. On top of that he is a proven cheater and he should not have been given a license to fight again in this country. But since that is water under the bridge, I hope that on fight night he gets what he truly deserves - a good old fashion beating. Truly, he deserves no mercy at all. On the other hand, in the past, I always thought well about Robert Garcia particularly when he took in both Brian Viloria and Nonito Donaire. But after he allowed the issue about the hand wrapping scandal be treated as though it was nothing, even participating before the HBO 24/7 episode in mocking it by pretending to be taping a brick on Margaritos?s hands, I lost all my respect for him. He is just like some people I came to know in boxing - classless and heartless fools. I am not in the habit of wishing people bad. But, this time I wish that Pacquiao will teach these people a lesson so that they will place their feet back on the ground and learn to respect others.
