The Whole Tooth and Nothing But ...

DARCHINYAN HAS MORE BRAVADO THAN GARY SHAW?

Anaheim, California:- Vic Darchinyan did what he said he will do to Jorge Arce but the result was not quiet as he expected.

Darchinyan promised to KO Jorge Arce. He punished Arce and beat him all through the 11 rounds of the fight tonight at the Honda Center in this City. But, he never got the satisfaction of putting him down. The referee, upon the recommendation of the ring doctor, stopped the fight after the 11th round thus denying Darchinyan a KO victory.

The fight was all Darchinyan as Arce did not seem to have anything to answer the multitudes of punches from Darchinyan that came from many different places.

In the end , Arce was all beat up and the stoppage was the correct decision. Arce was all spent and if it went another round, he would surely suffer more beating and in the process get knocked out or worse, seriously hurt.

Given the one sided fight nothing was really exciting during the fight unless one gets high seeing facial cuts on fighters and or a one sided fight. Darchinyan?s fight with Mijares was far better. There was more drama and of course, the knock downs.

Just about the only thing that stood out the whole evening was the comment made by Gary Shaw during the post fight interview.

When Darchinyan was asked about future fights, notably with Nonito Donaire, Darchinyan was amenable to a re-match with the Filipino Flash. But Shaw was quick to say that he will never agree to a fight with Donaire branding Donaire as ungrateful.

Ungrateful my butt!

I think that Shaw was more concerned about losing his cash cow thus he is targeting others who he feels Darchinyan has a better chance of beating. Names like Israel Vasquez and Rafa Marquez were mentioned. Shaw must be dreaming if he feels that the Raging Bull is on the same class as Vasquez and Rafa.

Darchinyan feels he can beat Donaire in a re-match and he wants to avenge the only blemish in his fight record but Shaw is apparently not too sure. And with that, he refuses to have a re-match with Donaire.

From my perspective, Shaw is really scared like hell by Donaire?s chances of beating his cash cow again. And, if he allows a re-match and Darchinyan gets KO?d again by Donaire, Shaw will be left holding an empty cash bag. In today?s economy, that?s not too good at all!

Thus, he is using the issue he had with the Donaires that broke up their partnership with Shaw. Shaw is saying that a re-match with Donaire has ?no chance? to happen.

Given such attitude, would it be fair to say that Darchinyan has more bravado than Shaw?

I think so.

Or is Shaw just being a shrewd businessman?

Unless Shaw agrees to a re-match with Donaire, my opinion about him will stay the same. However, I hope however, he proves me wrong before the year ends.

A Darchinyan-Donaire rematch would be exciting and Darchiyan has a fair chance of winning . And, if that happens, who knows how far the kid from Armenia can go and what kind of money Shaw can further make off him.

But Shaw is not taking any chances. Donaire was once his boy and he knows what he can do particularly to Darchinyan.
