Danny "Swift" Garcia Arrives in Puerto Rico for Defense Against Mexican Mauricio Herrera This Saturday

Welcomed at the airport by several former Puerto Rican world champions, unified WBC/WBA Jr. Welterweight (140 lbs) World Champion Danny "Swift" Garcia (L) arrived in Puerto Rico for the 5th defense of his belts against world-rated Mexican Mauricio Herrera (20-3, 7 KO's) this Saturday (March 15) at the Rub?n Rodr?guez Coliseum in Bayam?n, Puerto Rico.

Upon landing at the Luis Mu?oz Mar?n International Airport, Danny "Swift" Garc?a (27-0, 16 KO's), was received by former belt holders Iv?n "Iron Boy" Calder?n, Juan Manuel "Juanma" L?pez and Rom?n "Rocky" Mart?nez, who along the Puerto Rico Secretary of the Department of Recreation and Sports Ram?n Orta and boxing fans wished Danny Garc?a the best of luck in his first fight in Puerto Rico this Saturday.

"I am very happy to be home in Puerto Rico again and be received by these champions. It motivates me more. We've trained really hard and we want to give a good show to Puerto Rican fans," said Danny Garcia after stepping on Puerto Rican soil with his father-manager Angel Garc?a and his team.

Danny Garcia is heavy favorite to make a successful defense from the fists of Mexican Mauricio Herrera (20-3 , 7 KO's), a 12-round bout that might not reach the distance.

The reason is that being only 25-years-old, Danny Garcia has already defeated some of the elite fighters in the 140-pound division as former champions Amir Khan, Kendall Holt, the legendary Erik "El Terrible" Morales (defeated him twice), Nate Campbell, hard-hitting Argentinian Lucas Matthysse, and the ever popular Zab Judah.

If none of the above marquee names have been able to handle the power and good boxing skills of Danny Garcia, will Mauricio Herrra be able to do it?

But Herrera - currently rated as IBF # 11, WBC # 10 and WBA # 4 - is immersed and focused in the fight of a life time and do not want let pass his shot at glory.

The officials for the Danny Garcia VS Mauricio Herrera are: Third man Roberto Ram?rez Sr. of Puerto Rico, Judges Carlos Col?n of Puerto Rico, Alejandro Rochin of California USA and Gustavo Padilla of Panama.

The exciting card will also feature the rematch between hard-hitting former double world champions Juan Manuel "Juanma" L?pez (33-3 , 30 KO's ) of Puerto Rico and Mexican Daniel Ponce de Le?n (45-5 , 35 KO's) for the WBO International Jr. Lightweight (130 lbs) belt. Six years ago Juanma knocked out Ponce in round 1 to retain his super bantamweight world title.

Will the proud Tarahumara warrior as Ponce de Leon avenge the crushing 2008 defeat? Given the awesome power of both fighters, one thing seems sure: this is war will not make it to the distance.

The Danny Garcia VS Mauricio Herrera for the WBC/WBA Jr. Welterweight World Titles is a production of Golden Boy Promotions in association with Swift Promotions and Puerto Rico Best Boxing Promotions to be aired by Showtime Boxing.
