SANTA CRUZ VS TERRAZAS: FULL-SWING ACTION THIS SATURDAY IN CARSON, CALIF.

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

The co-main event of the thrilling Abner Mares vs Jhonny Gonzalez for the WBC Featherweight Title couldn't be better: an all out war between two of the very best super bantamweights in the planet, Mexicans Leo Santa Cruz and Victor Terrazas.

Victor Terrazas (37-2-1, 21 KOs) of Guadalajara, Jalisco, the reigning WBC super bantamweight world champion, makes the first defense of his crown against popular Mexican compatriot Leo Santa Cruz (24-0-1, 14 KOs).

The 30 year-old Terrazas aims at validating the world title he captured by narrowly outpointing former champ Cristian Mijares last April at Arena Mexico, while the younger Leo "Terremoto" Santa Cruz - born in Michoac?n, Mexico, now living in California - shoots at capturing his second world title, this time in the 122-pound weight class.

Santa Cruz's last outing was a round five knockout victory over former champ Alexander Munoz in one of the undercards of the Mayweather-Guerrero card last May 2013 at the MGM Grand. Leo Santa Cruz put on a winning exciting performance that has earned him even more fans.

Prior to that, Santa Cruz, 25, had a brilliant 2012 in which he conquered the IBF bantamweight world title and defended it three times before relinquish it in search of bigger, more challenging fights, and he has got one.

No doubt this is one of the most exciting super bantamweight fights fans could ever get, a clash that is likely to end in knockout.

Yes, the technically-gifted Guillermo Rigondeaux of Cuba is the super bantamweight unified world champ as well as unbeaten weight class ruler, but 122-pounders Santa Cruz and Terrazas are full-swing action warriors.

The thrilling double WBC World Titles card featuring Santa Cruz vs Terrazas and Mares vs Jhonny Gonzalez this Saturday in Carson, Calif., is a production of Golden Boy Promotions in association with Cerveza Corona to be broadcast LIVE on Televisa and Showtime.
