NBA -- Wizards foil Bulls' home preseason opener
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Wed, 08 Oct 2014

CHICAGO -- Derrick Rose acquitted himself well in his 2014 preseason opener on Monday night, scoring 11 points, 4 rebounds and an assist in 13 minutes and 51 seconds of action before a thick crowd of 21,047 at the United Center.
But the visiting Washington Wizards left the building with an 85-81 victory, thanks to Glen Rice's 18 points and Marcin Gortat's 13 points and 10 rebounds. Washington won despite committing 22 turnovers and making only 30 of 73 shots.
Rose, who has played only 49 regular season games in two years due to injuries, made 4 of 7 field goals, but the Bulls missed 45 of 74 shots and converted just 8 of their 21 triples.
"I thought Derrick played well. And it looked like he had great rhythm, and so that was very encouraging. Some good, some bad, a lot to work on," Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters at his post-game press conference.
Taj Gibson and Mike Dunleavy each had 10 for Chicago, which travels to Detroit today to face the Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan. (Homer D. Sayson)
