Warriors' 1-2 punch of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson By Jason Aniel PhilBoxing.com Fri, 03 Oct 2014 OAKLAND -- The Golden State Warriors kick started the upcoming 2014-15 season with Media Day at their practice facility on Monday. It was also the team?s annual ?Tweadia Day?, where fans interacted with the players through social media vehicles such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Media Day was also broadcast live on the Warriors' YouTube Channel which featured interviews with various players, coaches, and media members. After failing in the pursuit of Kevin Love during the offseason, the Warriors upgraded their bench and signed Shaun Livingston, a versatile 6-foot-7 veteran who can play multiple positions as a two-way guard and small forward. After struggling to find a suitable back-up for point guard Steph Curry, the Warriors hope that Livingston can fill the need. Golden State also picked up Leandro Barbosa and Brandon Rush for more depth and shooting. Rush, who had a career year with the Warriors back in 2011-2012, was recovering from an ACL injury while playing for the Utah Jazz last year. The Warriors are excited that their main core players are all returning. And clearly, the foundation of this team is built on the backcourt tandem of Curry and Klay Thompson, who are more famously known as the ?Splash Brothers.? Thompson had a break-out performance with the U.S. National Team during the FIBA World Cup of basketball in Spain, leading the Americans in 3 point shots. Thompson hopes to build from that experience to grow into an elite shooting guard. Health will be another major factor for the Warriors to be successful. Returning from injury is Andrew Bogut and Festus Ezeli. Bogut missed the playoffs with broken ribs and Ezeli is still recovering from reconstructive knee surgery. Andre Iguodala also admitted to playing through several injuries to end the year. Bogut and Iguodala have fully recovered from their injuries. Ezeli?s road back to the court may still take a little more time. Livingston is also recovering from a toe injury and is 50-50 for the season opener against the Sacramento Kings.
