By Kelly Manalo PhilBoxing.com Thu, 14 Aug 2014

CHICAGO -- The anticipation of this year's NBA season was heightened by the release of the regular season schedule today.
Among the many highlights include Opening Night on October 28, which features a triple-header bannered by the defending champions San Antonio Spurs hosting the Dallas Mavericks. In the opener, the Magic visits the Pelicans while the Rockets take on the returning Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in Los Angeles in the nightcap.
On October 29, Derrick Rose, also coming back from an injury, and the Chicago Bulls face the Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks in New York. Anthony contemplated on joining the Bulls this past summer as a free agent before deciding to stay in New York to chase a title with new president Phil Jackson.
The biggest game of opening week will be the return of LeBron James as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, his hometown team which he left in 2010 to join the Miami Heat where he won two titles.
The Cavs will play the Knicks on October 30 at the Q Arena and travel to Chicago to play the Bulls on October 31.
The Oklahoma City Thunder is among the three teams with the most nationally televised games alongside Cleveland and Chicago.
The Christmas day lineup has always been a staple for the NBA. This time it will feature LeBron going back to South Beach to face the Miami Heat. Chicago will take on the Lakers where Pau Gasol and Carlos Boozer will be pitted against their former teams. OKC vs San Antonio and Golden State vs L.A. Clippers will also be gift wrapped for fans to cheer on Christmas day.
These are just some of the games that will highlight the upcoming NBA season.
