Sultanate to name Pacquiao as 'Datu Radjik'

PhilBoxing.com

GENERAL Santos City -- Filipino boxing superstar Manny ?Pacman?
Pacman will soon be named as ?Datu Radjik? by the Royal Council of Elders of the century-old Grand Royal Sultanate of Talik.

This was bared by Rajahmuda Abbie Pendatun Bansil, spokesman of the Grand Royal Sultanate of Talik, who said that the sultanate?s council of elders has already chosen a royal title for Pacquiao.

Bansil said that the appropriate royal title for Pacquiao is ?Datu Radjik,? which means ?honorable warrior.??He is a good fighter. He fought his opponent in honorable manner. He deserves to be royally conferred because of his achievements,? Bansil said.

He said the plan to confer royal title on Pacquiao has the full support of the four deputy sultans, datus and rajahmudas of the sultanates.

The sultanate, led by Sultan Datu Nasser Sambuto Pendatun, covers the provinces of South Cotabato , Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani and the cities of Tacurong, Koronadal, and General Santos.

Pacquiao is running as congressman of the First District of South Cotabato now under the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) party of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He flew last Saturday to the United States to continue his training for his April 14 fight with undefeated Mexican fighter Jorge Solis at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Pacquiao, along with his older brother Bobby who won in his fight last year with Mexican boxer Oscar Villa in Los Angeles, California, was cited by the city government of General Santos.

City officials led by City Mayor Pedro Acharon, regarded Pacquiao as the city?s ?great son? due to his ?unequalled? accomplishments in the field of sports.

Pacquiao was also named ?2006 Fighter of the Year? by the Boxing Writers Association of America and The Ring Magazine for his two spectacular knockout victories of Mexican boxing icon and three-division champion Erik Morales and his dominating 12-round unanimous decision over former world champion and current number one contender Oscar Larios.

Last year, President Arroyo conferred Pacquiao the first Order of Lakandula with the rank of ?Champion for Life.?
