NBA Playoffs -- Nets survive Raptors, face Heat next By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Mon, 05 May 2014 SAN FRANCISCO -- The Brooklyn Nets narrowly escaped Toronto with a 104-103 Game 7 win over the Raptors Sunday afternoon at the Air Canada Centre. All-Star Paul Pierce had a quiet 10 points but he made the biggest play of the day by blocking the jump shot of Raptor Kyle Lowry as time expired, sending the Nets to the second round of the playoffs and a date with the two-time defending champions Miami Heat. "I don't think of this magnitude. On the road, Game 7, you are playing for your lives. You've got to step up for your team. I really didn't have a great offensive game. I was in foul trouble most of the night. Sometimes you have to find ways to help your ball club win," Pierce told NBA.com about his game-winning block. Brooklyn shooting guard Joe Johnson sank 11 of 25 field goals for 26 points to lead all scorers. Marcus Thornton had 17, Deron Williams finished with 13 and four assists, and Kevin Garnett turned in a solid 12 and 11 boards. Down 10 with 5:25 left in the fourth quarter, the Raptors waged a furious rally that got them to within one. An errant inbounds pass by Nets point guard Shawn Livingston gave the Raptors a chance to pull the upset with 6.2 ticks to go. But Pierce had other plans. Lowry led Toronto with 28 while Amir Johnson, who fouled out late, tallied 20 and 10. Patrick Patterson added 16.
