NBA -- Dreaded ACL tear claims another victim

SAN FRANCISCO -- Denver Nuggets forward J.J. Hickson has sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), adding his name to the long list of NBA players who have suffered from the devastating injury.
Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose, All-Star Rajon Rondo and Knicks guard Iman Shumpert are among the NBA players who suffered the same fate in recent years.
Hickson's injury occurred in the fourth quarter of Denver's 122-106 to the Mavericks last Friday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
The 25-year old Hickson was the 19th pick (1st round) in the 2008 NBA draft. He had prior stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Portland Trail Blazers before joining the Nuggets this past summer.
Hickson, a 6-foot-9, 242-pound power forward has played in 69 games this season and he is averaging 11.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in 52 starts.
