NBA -- Rondo's near triple-double enough to beat Heat
By Joan Secuya-Medida PhilBoxing.com Thu, 20 Mar 2014
SAN FRANCISCO -- All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo narrowly missed a triple-double but his brilliant all-around effort was more than enough to lead the Boston Celtics to victory.
Rondo registered nine points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists as the Celtics rallied past the two-time defending champions Miami Heat, 101-95.
Avery Bradley clocked 23 points and his six triples helped Boston surive the Heat, who exploded for 34 points in the opening 12 minutes. Brandon Bass finished with 18 and Jared Sullinger added 14 for Boston.
Reigning MVP LeBron James did not play due to back spasms and Miami relied heavily on Dwyane Wade, who logged 17 points.
Chris "Birdman" Andersen had a high 16 points but Chris Bosh, Miami's other superstar, struggled with just six points. Bosh did have 11 rebounds but the Heat went cold in the second half and scored only 37. (JSM)
