NBA -- Warriors host Filipino Heritage Night

OAKLAND -- For the second time in as many seasons, the Golden State Warriors hosted Filipino Heritage Night on Friday when the team played the visiting Atlanta Hawks at the Oracle Arena.
It was a celebration of Filipino culture, a tribute to the thousands of Bay Area Filipinos who have supported the Warriors through the years.
Filipinos who attended the event got discounted tickets and a special commemorative Filipino Heritage Night hat. According to the Warriors' official release, a portion of each ticket sold Friday night benefited local Filipino organizations.
During halftime, a local Bay Area group performed cultural Filipino dances such as "Pandango Sa Ilaw" and the highly popular "Tinikling."
It was a treat that thrilled the huge contingent of Pinoys who were among the 19,596 fans in the arena.
An added treat was the fact that the Warriors grounded the Atlanta Hawks, 111-97, behind 18 points and six rebounds from All-Star David Lee.
The victory pushed the Warriors' record to 39-24, sixth place in a crowded Western Conference. (DM)
