Ramirez Injured; Montoya camp steps up to challenge Farenas
By Mike Angel Lopez PhilBoxing.com Mon, 17 Feb 2014

The much awaited fight on March 14 between the world ranked Michael ?Hammer Fist? Farenas (37-4-29KO) and Mexican Jose ?Negro? Ramirez (25-4-15KO) for the prestigious WBO Oriental Super Featherweight Championship was put on hold after Ramirez injured his ribs in sparring and was urinating blood. His doctor has instructed the Mexican to relax and not do sparring for three months.
This is a big setback for both fighters as Farenas was in deep training to destroy Ramirez after Ramirez beat the tough Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista last year in the beautiful city of Davao and sent Bautista into retirement.
Farenas was coming off a 2nd round devastating knockout over the tough Mexican Jesus Rios (26-5-20KO) this past December 13 at the beautiful Solaire Resort and Casino.
The Montoya camp out of Tamalipas, Reynosa, Mexico, has offered to challenge Farenas. Magdaleno Montoya, father of Rosbel Montoya who the Philippines' Jason Pagara twice, has offered his two boxers from his camp to fight Farenas. These are the young fast rising star Eduardo ?Fierita? Montoya who has a record of 22-3-16KO, a former Mexican super featherweight champion, and Emanuel ?Pollo? Lopez with an amazing record of 36-3-12KO.
There records are different than what boxrec.com has posted, as in the past, boxers from those areas are never submitted to boxrec.com. Lopez and Montoya have their official records from the Boxing commission of Reynosa to back up there records. The tiring task to update their records on boxrec.com is a time consuming project which they say they can?t afford to do.
The soft spoken Magdaleno Montoya has made the challenge to Team Farenas, ?We can win again in the Philippines, so don?t hide, we did it before, we can do it again.?
