 Doliguez.
DUBBED as the next Filipino boxing superstar, Jun ??Hercules?? Doliguez will fly to Tijuana, Mexico next week to further hone his skills.
The pride of Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Agoncillo, Batangas, will be accompanied by veteran Filipino trainer Benny dela Pe?a, according to his manager and Saved by the Bell President Elmer Anuran.
Anuran, a respected sportsman-businessman, whose lifelong aim is to shape poor boxers to become world beaters, said by training in Tijuana, Doliguez (18-0-2, 14 KOs) is assured of sparring mates. The native of Malungon in Sarangani Province is expected to see action on April 12.
Saved by the Bell has a standing agreement with Fernando Beltran?s Zanfer Promotions to help Doliguez fight outside the Philippines.
The 5-foot-7 Doliguez debuted in the international stage with a draw with hardened Mexican boxer Ruben Tamayo in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Few were impressed with the result but the power-punching son of farmers made great waves when he knocked out another battle-tested Mexican Giovanni Caro in an undercard of the Timothy Bradley-Juan Manuel Marquez fight.
Following the Caro fight, Doliguez stopped Thai Maxsaisai Sithsaitong in the ninth round at the Agoncillo Sports Complex in Batangas.
Anuran believes his ward is ready to fight for the world title at 126 pounds.
It is known in local boxing circle that Doliguez wants to challenge reigning International Boxing Federation titleholder Evgeny Gradovich, dubbed as ??El Ruso Mexicano.??
The 27-year-old Gradovich has record of 18-0, 9 KOs.
??I?m ready. Whatever Boss Elmer will say, I?m ready to follow,?? said Doliguez, who is the current WBO Oriental featherweight champion.
