SAN FRANCISCO -- Are Pau Gasol's days as a Los Angeles Laker numbered?
That appears to be the case as the Phoenix Suns are reportedly trying to acquire the skilled center, according to a report by ESPN.
The option, multiple reports say, is for Phoenix to swap center Emeka Okafor for Gasol. Okafor makes $14.5 million this season while Gasol's paycheck is $19.3 million but the deal will work because the Suns have $5.6 million in available salary-cap space.
The 7-foot, 250 pound Gasol is one of the most popular Laker players. A native of Spain, he is a 12-year veteran who helped the purple-and-gold franchise win back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010.
Despite trade rumors swirling around him throughout the season, Gasol seems unperturbed, averaging 20.8 points and 11.9 rebounds last month. (JSM)
