WITH IDOL 2 POSTPONED, PAGARA WILL STILL FIGHT FOREIGN FOE IN MAASIN CITY

PhilBoxing.com

Prince Albert Pagara is set to face another foreign opponent in the month of February in another edition of Maasin Pride, a boxing series featuring the undefeated fighter from the ALA Boxing Gym. This will serve as a substitute for the scheduled Idol 2 which did not push through in Maasin City.

However there were no announcements yet as to whom he will fight. But ALA Promotions is negotiating a non-Filipino boxer who will face the undefeated fighter who grew up in Maasin City and first learned his boxing fundamentals in this city.

Idol Boxing Series Part 2 featuring Pagara and Indonesian Ruben Manakane originally scheduled on November 15 was postponed due to Supertyphoon Yolanda.

ALA Boxing Promotions and the Maasin City Government decided to reset it to still an undetermined date because of the still prevailing blackouts in the typhoon stricken areas.

Sponsors in the telecast of the bouts over ABS-CBN Studio 23 will lose exposure because the main viewers of the boxing series are those living in the Visayas region which until now are suffering from destruction. Everything was ready for the November bout last year when Yolanda stuck Eastern Visayas on Novembe 8. Idol 2 will be held on either May during the birthday celebration of the city mayor or August during the Fiesta Celebration.

Pagara kept himself busy the past year and maintained his unbeaten streak. He faced three Filipino boxers and one foreign opponent. He is the fastest rising teen boxer in the country today.

He stopped Jilo Merlin in the third round of the main event of the ?ALA-Cobra Tunay na Lakas Sinulog Boxing? at the Gaisano Country Mall Carpark on January 20. On April 6, he won against Jessie Tuyor of Zamboanga Del Norte by unanimous decision in the main event of a fight card held in Dauin, Negros Oriental.

Then he outclassed Khunkhiri Wor Wisaruth of Thailand at the undercard of the Pinoy Pride XXI at Solaire Resort Hotel and Casino, Pasay City on July 13 by second round TKO. For the fourth fight last year, he used his tremendous speed and boxing skills to beat the rough fighting Gadwin Tubigon by unanimous decision in a ten-round bout in Dumaguete City last December 7 and preserved his immaculate record at 18-0 with 12KO?s.
