NBA -- Bulls celebrate Christmas by routing Nets
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Thu, 26 Dec 2013

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls spent Christmas Day on the road Wednesday and made the trip worthwhile with a 95-78 demolition of the slipping Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center.
Taj Gibson, who was born and raised in Brooklyn, led Chicago's onslaught with 20 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Jimmy Butler, who recently returned from a turf toe injury, tallied 15 while Carlos Boozer added 14 and six boards.
Chicago trailed by seven points after one quarter but they surged ahead 41-38 at the break and blew the contest wide open with 36 points in the third stanza. The Bulls improved to 11-16 finished with 36 of 74 field goals made while the Nets struggled with just 25 of 71, a poor 35.2 percent clip.
Deron Williams was the main man for the Nets with 18 markers and Mirza Teletovic and Joe Johnson had 17 and 12 respectively. But no other player scored in double figures for the Nets, who were crushed off the boards, 44-34, and were beaten in the assists battle, 20-11.
"I don't know if we will, but that's the plan," Nets head coach Jason Kidd told NBA.com to answer a reporter's query whether Brooklyn will rise from their 9-19 free fall. (Homer D. Sayson)
