JUAREZ STOPS LUCERO!

Rocky Juarez, a fighter whose name has been dropped as a potential opponent for Manny Pacquiao got back on the winning track tonight at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona. Juarez last fought and lost to Marco Antonio Barrera last September 16, 2006 at the MGM Hotel in Last Vegas. Barrera won via a lazy unanimous decision.
Tonight, Juarez fought like a man possessed. He was focused and stayed on his game plan.His opponent Emmanuel Lucero, on the other hand seemed to lose his cool as the fight went on particularly after he was dropped the first time on the last few seconds of round 1.
Juarez dropped Lucero in round 1 and in round 2 for a mandatory eight count. In the fifth round, he dropped Lucero after a furious exchange, with a left upper cut as Lucero was weaving and bobbing.
Referree Bobby Ferrada stopped the fight at 1:05 in round five. After Ferrada intervened, Lucero admitted defeat by simply standing along the ropes in a neutral corner as Juarez wal ked around the ring with his hands raised.
