NBA Preseason -- Warriors scale China's Great Wall
By Joan Secuya-Medida PhilBoxing.com Tue, 15 Oct 2013

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Golden State Warriors are in China for a couple of NBA-mandated preseason encounters as part of the Global Games.
Their out-of-country sortie unfolds on October 15 when they face the Los Angeles Lakers at the MasterCard Center in sprawling Beijing. Three days later, on the 18th, the Warriors will wrestle the Lakers again, this time at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.
Traveling from California's Bay Area to the Far East hasn't been easy, a trip that required an 11-hour flight while players had to deal with the 15-hour time differential.
But it's all worth it, said power forward David Lee.
"One of the positives we can really bring out of this is to come together as a team. That's what's important, in my, opinion, as what we do on the court in this preseason. Because we saw it last year.
"We made the Final Four in the West and we didn't have the top four rosters in the West talent-wise. We played together, and we had the best chemistry in the league. We need to repeat that this year," Lee told the San Jose Mercury News.
In between team practices the Warriors and the Lakers visited the historic Great Wall of China, one of the great wonders of the world.
Players were mobbed by autograph-seekers in a slice of the world where the NBA has gone increasingly popular over the years. (JSM)
