Doliguez ready to make waves in Marquez-Bradley undercard By Dennis U. Eroa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 Sep 2013 HE?S READY and he?s going to show the world his true worth. Power-puncher Jun ??Hercules?? Doliguez battles Mexican veteran Enrique Quevedo in one of the undercards for the much-awaited Juan Manuel Marquez-Timothy Bradley clash October 12 (October 13 in Manila) Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. He is the lone Pinoy fighter in the card. ??I?ll do everything to win and impress,?? said the 22-year-old Doliguez in an exclusive interview with Phiboxing. He currently trains under the watchful eyes of head trainer Benny dela Pe?a and Dagul Martinez at Freddie Roach?s Wildcard Gym in Hollywood. ??Jun is doing great. Some of his sparmates quit in the middle rounds. They can?t stand his power,?? said Dela Pe?a. Still unbeaten in 18 fights (16-0-2, 12 KOs), Doliguez last fought another Mexican Ruben Tamayo (22-4-3) to a draw at Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. The fight against Quevedo is part of Saved by the Bell Promotions agreement with Fernando Beltran?s Zanfer Promotions. ??It?s confirmed. Doliguez is the lone Filipino fighter in the Marquez-Bradley fight,?? said SBB President Elmer Anuran. SBB have partnered Zanfer to handle Doliguez?s international career. Known for his aggressiveness and power, Doliguez hails from Manny Pacquiao?s hometown Sarangani Province. Anuran, owner of the Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Agoncillo, Batangas, decided to let Doliguez to stay in the United States. The 5-foot-6 Doliguez owns the WBO Oriental featherweight crown. The youthful Anuran is very vocal in saying that his ward is very much capable of becoming a world champion someday. ??Jun is doing very, very good in preparations against Quevedo. I was told by Benny that some of his spar mates could not handle his power and decided to quit,?? said Anuran, who said Doliguez must score an impressive win to boost his chance of a world title fight. He also said that despite a 14-6-1 ( 9 knockouts) record the native of Sinaloa, Mexico is a very dangerous foe. Originally, Doliguez wanted to fight former WBO International featherweight champion Jose ?Negro? Ramirez, who was recently stripped by the organization of his crown for failing to defend 120 days after winning the title. Ramirez will also fight in the Bradley-Marquez undercard but against another fighter Russian Vasyl Lomachenko. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Dennis U. Eroa. ![]() |
