FIGHT ME: Doliguez Eyes Negro Ramirez
By Dennis U. Eroa PhilBoxing.com Thu, 05 Sep 2013
FAST-RISING Jun ??Hercules?? Doliguez says he?s ready to exchange punches with former WBO International featherweight champion Jose ?Negro? Ramirez, who was recently stripped by the organization of his crown for failing to defend 120 days after winning the title.
??I want to fight him,?? said Doliguez, who is in the United States training for his planned appearance in the undercard of the Juan Manuel Marquez versus Tim Bradley bout October 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Doliguez was supposed to meet Ramirez in Mexico last July but it didn?t push through because of purse dispute. Instead the pride of Malungon, Sarangani Province and Agoncillo, Batangas battled another Mexican Ruben Tamayo to a draw.
Supported by Saved by the Bell Promotion president Elmer Anuran, Team Hercules remains in the US. Doliguez (16-0-2, 12 KOs), trains under the watchful eyes of Benny dela Pe?a and other big names trainers at Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
??He?s (Hercules) is doing great. He?s ready to fight in the Marquez-Bradler undercard,?? said Anuran, also owner of the Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Agoncillo.
Ramirez stunned hard-nosed Pinoy ring fans when he escaped with a split decision over Rey ??Boom Boom?? Bautista last April in Davao City. At stake was Bautista?s WBO international featherweight title.
Bautista has already retired.
Anuran said the 5-foot-7 Doliguez has already learned his lessons after a hard-earned draw against Tamayo.?? Jun learned a lot from his first bout outside the Philippines.??
Doliguez said he?s a new fighter. ??My training in the US makes me a more complete boxer,?? said Doliguez, who expressed his gratitude to Anuran for backing his quest to join the elite list of Filipino world champions.
