Banal Gets A Top-Rate Foe in Jandaeng

PhilBoxing.com

The potential of a boxer can only be measured in the credibility of his opponents.

It is what makes a fighter a champion in the making and this is what the 18-year-old boxing sensation , AJ Banal, expects to encounter when he engages dangerous Terdkiat Jandaeng of Thailand on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the Mandaue Sports Complex.

The WBO Asia Pacific rated no. 6 contender, Jandaeng is another acid test for the teenage Banal who has been hurdling one test after another with flying colors.

One thing however that the young southpaw Banal has to watch out is the fact that the iron-jaw Jandaeng has never been kayoed.

Jandaeng, who belongs to the dreaded group of Kokiet Boxing Stable in Thailand is the younger brother of Terdsak Jandaeng who battled WBO featherweight champion, Juan Manuel Marquez, recently in the United States.

Not only is the tough and rugged Jandaeng known for his durability, his 7-2-1 win, loss, draw record speaks well of his credential as he split his two fight with Saensak Singmanasak who had previously fought and lost to the popular Rey ‘Boom-Boom’ Bautista. He has also beaten twice fellow countryman Dechapol Bankluaygym – the same opponent Banal destroyed in a single round.

His only two losses came from the hands of Singmansak and from WBO Asia Pacific Champion Rexon Flores of the Philippines and both fights went the distance.

To spice up the classic battle between Banal and Jandaeng is a trio of 10-round fights featuring ALA Boys Rocky Fuentes and Milan ‘Milenyo’ Melindo and upcoming lightweight Glen Masicampo of Harada Stable.

Fuentes will collide with Greg Mangan in a grudge rematich that ended in a controversial draw in their first encounter.

In what could be the night’s thriller is the match-up between fast rising Milan ‘Milenyo’ Melindo and bell-to-bell fighter, Fabio Marfa.

And the last of the 10 round fight will feature upcoming 135 lbs. Glen Masicampo of Harada Stable who will trade blow with RP No. 7 contender Anton Olarte of Davao City.

The 70-round card is another exciting boxing extravagant promotion of Sammy ‘Don King’ Gello-ani.

Tickets are now on sale at USA Sports outlets in Ayala and SM malls and at the ALA Fight Club at the Banilad Town Center at the following prices: VIP/Sponsor – Php 500, Ringside – Php 300, Lower Seat – Php 200 and General Admission – Php 100.
