NBA -- Bobcats eliminate D-League Selects
By Kelly Manalo PhilBoxing.com Mon, 22 Jul 2013
LAS VEGAS -- In the third game of Day 10 of the NBA summer league here saw the NBA Developmental League Selects were ousted the Charlotte Bobcats, 85 ? 75.
The D-League team struggled early in the first quarter, shooting just 25 percent from the field for an abysmal 12 points. Despite that, though, they were only down 7 as the Bobcats also couldn't find the bottom of the net and managed just 19 points.
The Select team was playing too aggressive on the defensive end trying to make up for their lack of offense causing them to be in the penalty early. And the Bobcats took advantage keeping the lead throughout the second until some sloppy play helped the D-League get some easy baskets at the rim.
The score at the half had the Bobcats up 38 ? 31.
Fans in the Thomas and Mack got behind the D-League Select team as they started off strong. They cut the Bobcats lead to four points but Charlotte was able to dial it in from long distance and pushed the margin back to 10 points.
The Bobcats took every run that the Select team made and stopped them in their tracks. Charlotte had four players in double figures and their eight three pointers kept them the lead in the end. Guard Abdul Gaddy led all players in points with 17. Elijah Millsap and Darnell Jackson paced the D-League team with 12 apiece.
The Bobcats will face the Warriors in the final four Sunday night at the Thomas and Mack Center at 5pm. The D-League Select team put up a valiant effort in the tournament going undefeated until facing Charlotte. Bright futures are ahead for those players as they showed there is a place for them in the NBA. (KM)
