NBA Summer League -- Warriors nip Lakers, advance to Final Four By Kelly Manalo PhilBoxing.com Mon, 22 Jul 2013 ![]() LAS VEGAS -- The final game Friday night at the Thomas and Mack Center saw the Golden State Warriors outlasting the Los Angeles Lakers in an 83-77 thriller. Both teams went right at each other after tip-off, going up and down the court for a fast and frenetic pace. The Lakers took an early 7-2 bubble but the Warriors rallied to knot the count at 16-16 after one quarter of play. The Lakers and Warriors went at it again at the start of the second quarter. Lakers center Travis Hyman set the tone early with three emphatic blocks sending the Warriors attempts into the stands. Both teams went scoreless for the first three minutes before the Lakers finally caught a nice rhythm finishing a three point play. The Warriors ended the first half with a monster block that led to a fast break dunk by leading scorer Kent Bazemore, who lifted Golden State to a 43 ? 33 halftime bubble. The Lakers pushed their lead to 12 at the start of the second half as forward Marcus Landry drained a 3. After a back and forth battle, the Warriors started to buckle down as the split crowd of Warriors fans rallied behind them when they started to get big defensive stops and scores. With each basket going in, the crowd got louder and louder at the end of the quarter when Bazemore swished a three pointer to cut the Lakers' lead to two. The fourth quarter began with a Laker turnover leading to a Warrior dunk that tied the game. The Warriors took the lead with a 6 ? 0 run but the Lakers Lazar Hayward knocked down a three pointer to end it. Both teams traded buckets as the crowd rose to its feet in approval. With a minute remaining in the game, the Warriors were still up but Lakers hit a big basket to cut the lead to three. The Lakers had their chances towards the end but the No.1 seeded Warriors held on. Kent Bazemore of the Warriors finished with a game-high 26 points while guard Cameron Jones contributed 18 points some of which were clutch baskets. The Lakers had balanced scoring with four players in double figures. The Warriors advanced to the Final Four as the favorite to take on the Charlotte Bobcats.
