That?s why the undefeated pride of Malungon, Sarangani Province isn?t taking things for granted as he trades punches with battle-scarred Mexican Ruben Tamayo of Ciudad de Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. The slugfest which will be held at the International Convention Center in Merida in the Yucatan State. The 5-foot-7 Doliguez is unbeaten in 17 bouts (16-0-1, 12 knockouts) but this is his first foray in the international arena. Dubbed as Hercules because of his tremendous power, Doliguez, a featherweight, eyes to flatten the Mexican, whose record of is 22-4-3, including 16 knockouts, isn?t a joke. SBB President Elmer Anuran, who masterminded Doliguez?s rise from boxing, said his ward is ready. In an overseas call to his elder brother and SBB executive Danny,who is with Team Hercules in Mexico, Elmer said Doliguez is ready to rumble. The Doliguez-Tamayo bout is a co-headliner of the fight between Julian Yedras and Carlos Buitrago for the WBO interim strawweight plum. ?Winning this bout in awesome fashion will open the eyes of the world. Hercules is a world champion in the making,?? said the youthful Anuran, who owns Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Agoncillo, Batangas. Tamayo expressed no fear when a Mexican scribe compared Doliguez's power to the legendary Manny Pacquiao. The ring icon and Doliguez are provincemates. "I'm not bothered at all. I heard about his power but he's a human being. I'm ready,'' Tamayo answered. Similarly, Doliguez savors the fight. " I came here to win,'' said the Filipino warrior. Aside from Danny, Doliguez will be assisted by veteran trainer Benny dela Pena and assistamt Dagul Martinez. To prepare Doliguez for the tough grind ahead, Elmer made the proper arrangement so that his ward would be able to train at Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles before flying to Mexico. Earlier, Danny said both fighters made the weight during the well-attended weigh-in. The bout is a 10-rounder. Doliguez?s campaign was made possible by SBB?s memorandum of agreement with Zanfer Promotion headed by Fernando Beltran. ?Huge things are in store for Jun under the agreement between Zanfer and SBB,?? said Elmer.
