Saludar TKOs foe in the first round
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Sun, 14 Jul 2013

MANILA ? Former national standout Vic ?Vicious? Saludar made an impressive debut as a pro boxer by knocking out Juanito Hundante of Manila in the first round of the undercard in the Pinoy Pride XXI Saturday night at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Paranaque City.
The 5-4 Saludar landed a quick left jab followed by a right to the head to down Hundante in just 52 seconds in the first round.
Saludar, a 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games bronze medallist and six-time national champion, missed his first punch, a left cross and allowed his opponent to throw his own left-right jabs.
But Saludar also defended himself good by covering his face and then retaliated with his own left-right jabs to send down Hundante to the canvas.
Referee Ver Abaiza immediately ended the fight after seeing the helpless Hundate not fit already to continue with the scheduled four-rounder.
It was Saludar?s first victory as a pro while Hundate?s second defeat against one win. Saludar, named ?best fighter of the tournament? during the 31st Tammer Cup held in Tampere, Finland, is the second among the three fighting brothers who are already in professional boxing.
His 24-year old brother Froilan Saludar (16 wins, 11 Kos and 1 draw), who is the WBO Interim Oriental flyweight champion congratulated Vic in his text message.
The other elder brother Rey Saludar, however, gave his support and watched the fight at the corner.
"Hindi man lang siya pinawisan," said Rey Saludar, a 2010 Asian Games gold medalist, who will join the PH national amateur boxing team in China this week in preparation for this year's Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar. LITO DELOS REYES
