NBA -- Warriors look to bounce back in Game 2

SAN FRANCISCO -- For the second time in three nights, the Golden State Warriors will attempt to steal home court advantage against from the San Antonio Spurs when their best-of-7 Western Conference semifinal resumes with Game 2 Wednesday night at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.

But it will be a tough task for the heavy underdog Warriors, who lost Monday night's Game 1 in double-overtime after blowing a 104-88 lead with 4:31 left in regulation. Spurs guard Manu Ginobili put the bow around the Spurs' epic win by nailing a wide open 3 with 1.2 seconds left in the second extension.

Golden State has now lost 29 consecutive times in San Antonio, the longest losing streak in a team-to-team series in the NBA.

Only thrice in the history of the NBA playoffs has a team squandered a 16-point fourth quarter lead. Each time it occurred, though, those teams have come back to win the next game, a trend the Warriors hope to continue.

Point guard Stephen Curry was spectacular in Game 1, finishing with 44 points and 11 assists. The Warriors also had key contributions from Harrison Barnes and Klay Thompson, who chipped in 19 apiece. Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green combined for 20 points and 22 rebounds while providing energy on both ends of the floor.

The Spurs' championship mettle came through in Game 1, where Tim Duncan left the game late in the final quarter due to a stomach flu. The mighty Spurs, who won NBA titles in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007, weathered a fourth quarter storm and showed amazing grace under pressure in the crucial stretch.

A win today will give the second-seeded Spurs a commanding 2-0 lead over the sixth-seeded Warriors. But a loss will knot the count at 1-1 and give home court advantage to Golden State. Game 3 is Friday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, where the Warriors were 26-13 during the regular season and 3-0 in these playoffs. (JA)

The Golden State Warriors will need another huge scoring production from ace Stephen Curry (middle) to have a chance against the San Antonio Spurs in today's Game 2.
