NBA - Warriors beat Nuggets, 115-101, take 3-1 lead By Joan Secuya-Medida PhilBoxing.com Mon, 29 Apr 2013 OAKLAND -- The Denver Nuggets lost three consecutive games for the first time since last November and the Golden State Warriors surged to a commanding 3-1 series lead behind the 31 points of Stephen Curry. Warriors star point guard bothered by a sore left ankle, Coach Mark Jackson told Stephen Curry in the first half that he might shut him down to protect him from hurting himself further. Stephen Curry silenced his coach with a resounding answer. Curry shook off pain and doubts by scoring 22 of 31 points in a spectacular third quarter. "I don't know what happened. Something kicked in there, "Curry said during his post game Interview. Coach Karl had a better answer, "Magic" he said... "they found magic," maybe he meant Curry who tormented Denver's perimeter defenders so far in the first four games of this series. Jarrett Jack added 21 points and one assist shy from a double-double and Andrew Bogut broke out in the first half with 12 points and five rebounds who set the tone for the Warriors who can close out the number three seed Nuggets in Game 5 Tuesday night in Denver. Warriors coach Mark Jackson said on Bogut, "To have him back playing at this level it's exactly what we as an organization envisioned. His presence in the paint, the way he sets screens, high 12 rebounds, plays with an edge, just what we lacked in the past... He's a tremendous luxury for us to have. Makes us so much better when he's on the floor." Ty Lawson scored Nuggets game high 26 points and Andre Iguodala scored 19 for Denver who finally won the rebounding battle for the first time in this series 37 - 29, but Golden State didn't miss much. Warriors out shot Nuggets 55.7 to 46.5 percent. Ty Lawson said on the post game interview, "They're just playing well together. They're moving the ball around. You try to stop one person, another person is going off." "When you look at it, he's not the only one hurting us," Andre Iguaala said of Curry. "He's making the wows plays, he's making some great shots, you've got to give him credit. But Jarrett Jack playing really well for them...Carl Landry has been playing really well. Bogut was incredible for them in the first quarter. Our team defense needs to improve. It comes down to the basic of basketball. Denver Nuggets are happy to say the least to fly back to Mile High and away from the Roaring Warrior Faithful, and rally behind the home crowd to try to extend the series back to Oakland for Game 6.
