ALA Promotions to hold another Pinoy Pride edition in Davao City

PhilBoxing.com

DAVAO CITY, April 22 (PNA) -- Despite the devastating defeat of Rey "Boom-Boom" Bautista to Mexican Jose "Negro" Ramirez on Saturday night here, the ALA Promotions has promised another staging of the Pinoy Pride edition.

According to marketing head Claire Lukban, they met their expectation of selling a good number of tickets to watch the Pinoy Pride XIX in the jampacked gymnasium of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) along Barrio Obrero here.

"Definitely we will have another Pinoy Pride again here in Davao. The turnout of the ticket sales was very good," Lukban said.

She said the warm accommodation of the USeP officials as well as friendly and boxing fanatic Davaoe?os also inspire them to be back in the city.

On Saturday night, Ramirez came more prepared and fit to dethrone Bautista via a split decision and took the World Boxing Organization (WBO) international featherweight title.

After the post-fight interview, Bautista admitted he had to shed 20 extra pounds to make the required weight limit of 126 pounds, that reportedly made him uncomfortable and not in good condition.
The other Mexican Juan "Loquito" Kantun, however, lost to Rocky "The Road Warrior" Fuentes by a unanimous decision.

The much-awaited encounter between previous undefeated fighters, reigning Orient Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super flyweight champion King Arthur Villanueva and challenger Marco "Singwancha" Demecillo, lived up to its expectation and turned out as the most exciting match of the Pinoy Pride 19: Mexican Invasion.

Both boxers fought toe to toe with Demecillo continuing to attack despite being hit constantly by the stinging jabs of Villanueva, who kept the former at bay.

Meanwhile, the Moralde brothers, John Vincent and Engelbert of Davao City, both scored convincing wins via a unanimous decision against the Gayhon siblings of Bukidnon in the under-card.
John Vincent beat Juvel Gayhon while Engelbert outclassed Arel Gayhon also in a four-rounder match.

In the other bouts, Mark Vincent Bernaldez landed bodyshots to knock out Indonesian Arief Blander in 1:20 of the second round; Kim Galon stopped Joselito Tabago in 2:40 of the second round.; Jessie Suacasa defeated Glendon Ramos. (PNA)
