Pinoy Pride XIX in Davao April 20

PhilBoxing.com

DAVAO CITY, March 20 --- Finally the ALA Promotions, the country?s premier, world-class boxing organization and promotional giant is staging here on April 20 the Pinoy Pride XIX at the University of Southeastern Phils. (USEP) gym.

?We?re truly very excited to be bringing for the first time the Pinoy Pride series to Davao City,? said Michael Aldeguer, president and CEO of ALA Promotions told the media today in a press launching held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.

Also present were World Boxing Organization (WBO) International featherweight champion Rey ?Boom-Boom? Bautista and his trainer Edito Villamor.

Bautista (34 wins, 25 Kos, 2 loses, 0 draw) will be making his first title-defense in the main event against Mexican knockout artist Jose ?Negro? Ramirez (24 wins, 15 Kos, 3 losses, 0 draw).
?Ramirez is a knockout artist, who has won his five of his fights via knockout in the first round and 11 of his wins by KO did not last four rounds,? bared Aldeguer.

Bautista, 26, previously won in his fight against another Mexican Daniel Ruiz only via a split decision to capture the crown last October 10, 2012 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

This time, however, Bautista thinks that somebody will go down in his upcoming fight with Ramirez.

?Naay matumba dire ani. Dili basta-basta ang kontra. Kung kinsa ang maka una ug makalusot,? said Bautista, a native of Bohol whose father had also stayed here in Davao for five years.
Bautista, however, said that he has trained hard and have prepared for this fight since December. He had also improved his jab and balancing as shown already during his last fight according to Villamor.

?Grabe iya dedikasyon sa training ug paningkamot,? said Villamor, also a former world-rated fighter.

Aldeguer was also impressed on how Bautista worked hard to make a great comeback from his career-threatening injuries ? bone and wrist.

?This will be a tough fight for him (Bautista),? said Aldeguer, who hopes to get Bautista a crack for the world title also this year.

Pinoy Pride XIX, billed as the ?Mexican Invasion? will again be co-presented by the ABS-CBN Sports, which will show the fight on the following day (April 21) both in their nationwide and international coverage.

?That is why we are bringing the Pinoy Pride here in Davao because also of the very high ratings here in Mindanao. We want to thank you for supporting us,? Aldeguer said.

Pitted in the main supporting bout is Rocky ?The Road Warrior? Fuentes of the Philippines against Juan ?Loquito? Kantun of Mexico.

There are also two exciting bouts in the undercard featuring Arthur ?El Matador? Villanueva of ALA Gym against Marco Demecillo of the Wakee Salud Stable for the Orient Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super flyweight championship (12 rds.-115 lbs.) and Lorenzo ?Thunderbolt? Villanueva of the Braveheart Stable-Cotabato against Arief ?The Ice? Blader of Indonesia (8 rds.-126 lbs.).

The Moralde brothers Engelbert and Vincent Moralde ? both former amateur boxers from Davao will also be included together with another Dabawenyo figher Glenn Ramos.

?Ginapangitaan pa namo sila ug mga kalaban,? said ALA Promotions Executive Vice President Dennis Ca?ete.

Aldeguer said that they will not only be giving fights for their own stable but are also giving the other fighters to be discovered in the Pinoy Pride.

?Our envision is to elevate boxing in the country, bring the sport closer to the Filipino people, showcase local talent on the world stage and most importantly produce world boxing champions that the country and its people can take pride in and be proud of,? he said.

Aldeguer is also hoping that they can fill-up the 8,000 seats of USEP gym. Tickets are pegged at P150 (general admission), P500 (courtside seats), P1,000 (4th row), P1,500 (3rd row), P2,000 (2nd row) and P3,000 (VIP 1st row). The 1st to 4th rows are all reserved and limited seats.

Tickets are available at SM Cinema Davao and Lanang. For ticket inquiries: (032) 505-9513, 09231072890, 09158690905, 09275612059 or visit the website: www.alaboxing.com.
