Doliguez, Sabaupan fight in Mexico By Dennis U. Eroa PhilBoxing.com Wed, 06 Mar 2013 ![]() Sabaupan and Doliguez. WINNING the elusive title remains burning in his heart, but Jun ??Hercules?? Doliguez must hurdle a Mexican foe in Mexico to show the world that he deserves a title shot against reigning IBO featherweight titleholder Daud ??Cino?? Yordan. The unbeaten Doliguez (15-0-1, 11 knockouts) will travel to Mexico as part of his tune-up before an expected title clash with the Indonesian-pride on June. ??Jun is fighting in an undercard of a world title fight in Mexico on March 23. This bout will help him greatly in his preparations against Daud,?? said Saved by the Bell promotions chief Elmer Anuran, who is also the man behind the formation of the Association of Local Athletics, Enterpreneurs and Hobbyists Inc (Ala-Eh). On the other hand, the 25-year-old Yordan (30-2-0, 23 knockouts) will meet South African Simpiwe Vetveka on April 14 at the Bung Karno Stadium at Jakarta, Indonesia. Yordan, a native Sukadana, West Kalimantan, had earlier challenged Filipino fighters to exchange punches with him. Doliguez, who trains at the Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Agoncillo, Batangas, answered the challenge. Anuran said Doliguez?s foe will be named next week. ??This is Jun?s first foray in the international arena and I am confident he?ll pass the test with flying colors.?? The 5-foot-7 Doliguez, who like ring legend Manny Pacquiao hails from Sarangani province, won his last three bouts by knockouts after a technical draw against Edgar Gabejan last July at Lemery, Batangas. Anuran said that Doliguez is not fighting in Mexico alone. For the second time, Al ??Captain A?? Sabaupan will show his wares to Mexican ring fans. Sabaupan (20-1-1, 15 knockouts) lost a closely-fought bout with Mexican veteran Marvin Quintero last April at the Unidad Deportiva Centenario in Morelia. ??I want to bounce back and show the Mexican fans my true worth,?? said Sabaupan, who is a native of Sipocot, Camarines Sur. After losing to Quintero by TKO in the ninth of their 12-round slugfest, Sabaupan thrilled the fans by downing Freddie Martinez and Roselito Campana in succession. ??My fighters are ready. Given the chance, they will crown themselves world champions in the near future,?? concluded Anuran. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Dennis U. Eroa. ![]() |
