PINOY PRIDE XVIII POST FIGHT QUOTES: TEAM FUENTES WANTS IMMEDIATE REMATCH!

PhilBoxing.com

World Champion Donnie Nietes vs World Champion Moises Fuentes turned out to be the biggest fight to hit the Philippine Islands since the ?THRILLA IN MANILA? whe Muhammad Ali beat Joe Fraizer in 1975.

Team Fuentes came to the Philippines with one thing on their minds, it was to go to battle like the Mexican Air Force during WORLD WAR II when the FUERZA AEREA MEXICANA (FAM) sent the AZTEC EAGLES to the Philippines to fight alongside the Americans to liberate the Philippines, but this time Team Fuentes wanted to liberate the WBO World Light Flyweight Championship from Donnie Nietes.

The manager of Moises Fuentes, the Living Legend Marco Antonio Barrera was not happy with the decision that was handed out Saturday night. Barrera said, ?I WILL MAKE AN IMMEDIATE REQUEST WITH THE WBO PRESIDENT PACO VALCARCEL ABOUT THIS FIGHT, THAT WE WANT AN IMMEDIATE REMATCH. WE ARE WILLING TO COME BACK HERE FOR THE REMATCH, BUT WITHOUT A FILIPINO JUDGE.?

Team Fuentes raised concerns at the Press Conference when they requested that Filipino Judge Atty. Danrex Tapdasan be removed. Judge Tapdasan had the fight scored at 115-113 in favor of Nietes while Judges Adelaide Byrd and Jack Russell both had it even at 114-114.

The Mexican World Champion Moises Fuentes said he got hurt in the first round by a devastating punch under his right eye, but after that he had no more problems. Fuentes admitted Nietes has power in his punches, but was able to endure his punches.

Fuentes added, ?I know I had Nietes hurt many times, but the true warrior that Nietes is, he fought and fought. I have a lot of respect for Nietes, and let?s fight again.?

The fans were the real winners in this fight. They witnessed a battle that compares to Alexis Arguello vs Aaron Pryor, Sugar Ray Leonard vs Roberto Duran and Israel Vasquez vs Raul Marquez.

Marco Antonio Barrera wants the immediate rematch in the next couple of months. He said, ?I will bring my boxer Moises 'Chucky' Flores (18-0, 13KO) to challenge Genesis Servania for the vacant Interim WBO Super Bantamweight Championship.? The fans will get a double dose of World Championship boxing.

Team Fuentes left back to Mexico Sunday afternoon at 2pm for their 2 day journey and were very happy with the way the Filipino fans treated them. They will always remember their time in Cebu, with the fans, food and hospitality. They said that ALA Boxing Promotions is one of the best they ever worked with.
