NBA -- Nuggets hand Bulls their worst loss of the season
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Sat, 09 Feb 2013

CHICAGO -- In the worst loss under head coach Tom Thibodeau's tenure, the Chicago Bulls took a 128-96 beating at the hands of the Denver Nuggets Thursday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
The usually tough Bulls defense had no answer against the Nuggets running attack which resulted in 23 fast break points and 64 points in the paint. After taking the opening half 63-58, the Nuggets went on a 37-point third quarter and led by as many as 35 late in the final period.
Obviously, the lackluster effort did not please coach Thibodeau, who told the Chicago Tribune "Get back. Get set. Keep the ball out of the paint. challenge shots. Finish your defense. Yeah, that's what we're supposed to do. That's what a good defensive team does. Protect the rim. Long, contested twos. That's what we're supposed to do."
Wilson Chandler did the most damage for the Bulls by scoring 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field including 5-for-5 from 3-point range. Kenneth Faried added 21 and 12 rebounds while point guard Ty Lawson finished with 16 points and 12 assists. Danilo Gallinari added 15.
It was the Nuggets' 13th win in 14 home games. And they improved to 32-18, fourth overall in the Western Conference.
Daequan Cook led the Bulls with 19 off the bench while Carlos Boozer had 18. Luol Deng finished with a quiet 11 and eight rebounds for the Bulls, who shot just 41 percent from the field (38-of-91).
With the loss, the Bulls dropped to 29-20 and fell 1 1/2 games behind the 31-19 Indiana Pacers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference's Central Division.
