NBA -- Rockets bury Warriors with 23 triples
By Joan Secuya-Medida PhilBoxing.com Thu, 07 Feb 2013

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Houston Rockets sank an NBA-tying record of 23 threes and easily beat the Golden State Warriors, 140-109, Tuesday night at the Toyota Center.
Point guard Jeremy Lin, who finished with 28 points and nine assists, led the triple onslaught by draining five of eight treys. James Harden and Chandler Parsons combined for eight triples and 34 points. Center Omar Asik didn't have a three, but the ex-Bull chalked 11 points and 15 rebounds.
The Rockets' feat tied the previous record established by the Orlando Magic last January 13, 2009 when the team went 23-for-37 above the three-point arc against the Sacramento Kings.
"We're not going to lay down. If you're trying to get the record, we're going to stop it. By no means we're going to accept giving up open 3s and transition shots. We didn't play particularly well, but that doesn't mean lay down and surrender. That's not in our DNA," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson told NBA.com about Houston's historic night as well as his teams' struggle.
After a torrid first quarter that ended at 38-37 in favor of Houston, the Rockets pulled away in the second quarter with a 39-25 run. Houston eventually ended up shooting 50.5 percent from the field and 57.5 from 3-point range. The Warriors, on the other hand, made only 41 of 86 field goals (47.7 percent) and three of 15 triples (20 percent).
Jarrett Jack led the Warriors with 20 points and five assists while All-Star David Lee tallied 18 points and seven rebounds.
Ace point guard Stephen Curry had an underwhelming seven points, making only three of 12 field goals including one of five treys. (JSM)
Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin tries to elude a double-team during Houston's 140-109 victory over the Golden State Warriors Tuesday night at the Toyota Center. Lin shot five 3s on the way to 28 points.
