ESTRADA DEFEATS ARAKAWA IN TOUGH CLASH IN MEXICO; ARAKAWA WANTS REMATCH (PHOTOS) By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Mon, 26 Nov 2012 ![]() Mexican Daniel "Tremendo" Estrada (30-2-1, 22KO's) retained his WBC Lightweight (135 lbs) Silver Belt by defeating the WBC #1 rated Japanese Nihito Arakawa in a technical decision a fight in which the Mexican's right eye got swollen after what was ruled as "accidental elbows." After the fight was stopped as a technical decision in round 10, the judges' cards were in favor of Estrada 99-91 and 98-92 (twice). The fight was billed as a WBC Lightweight Eliminator, meaning that the Mexican Estrada may well be the next title challenger for the newly crowned WBC Lightweight world champ Adrian "The Problem" Broner (25-0, 21KO's). However, reporter/matchmaker Bangkok Gurentai, who was in attendance at ringside, saw his compatriot Arakawa as the dominating warrior in the exciting combat and thinks that Arawawa deserves a rematch: "My opinion is that Arakawa should have won. Because in every single round Arakawa scored blows on the face of Estrada. His heavy punches hit Estrada so many times. Unfortunately, the "hits" were ruled as "headbutts" and "elbows." I am very very sorry to see such a finish. Arakawa's promoter will ask for a rematch," commented Bangkoku Gurentai, a top Japanese reporter and photographer based in Thailand. The fight was tough and exciting. It remains to be seen if Arakawa will get his rematch. PHOTOS COURTESY OF BANGKOK GURENTAI
