Breaking News: Yamanaka KO's Rojas; Igarashi decisions Narvaez Tonight in Sendai, Japan
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sat, 03 Nov 2012

WBC Bantamweight World Champion Shinsuke Yamanaka of Japan scored an impressive effective seventh round knock out over veteran former champion Mexican Tomas "Gusano" Rojas Saturday (Nov 3) at the Xebio Arena, in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture in Japan. Vicious blows thrown by the relentless southpaw Yamanaka sent the hurt Mexican down to be counted out by third man Michael Griffin of Montreal, Canada.
The win was Yamanaka's successful second defense of the green/golden world belt he earned from Mexican Christian Esquivel last November in Tokyo. His first defense was a brilliant display of skillful 12-round boxing against the aggressive dangerous Armenian "The Raging Bull" Vic Darchinyan last April also in Tokyo.
The 30 year-old southpaw champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (17-0-2, 12KO's) is promoted by Akihiko Honda of Teiken Promotions.
IGARASHI DECISIONS NARVAEZ TO RETAIN WBC FLYWEIGHT CROWN
In the co-main event tonight in Sendai, WBC Flyweight World Champion Toshiyuki Igarashi (17-1-1, 10KO's) won a majority decision over previously undefeated Nestor Daniel Narvaez of Cordoba, Argentina, younger brother of reigning Super Flyweight World Champion Omar "El Huracan" Narvaez (37-1-2, 20KO's).
Official scores were: Judge Max DeLuca of California 114-112, Duane Ford of Las Vegas 114-112 and Jun-Bae Lim of South Korea 113-113; for the winner and still WBC world champion Toshiyuki Igarashi.
Tonight's victory marks Toshiyuki's first successful defense of the world title he won from then champion Filipino Sonny Boy Jaro in last July in Kasukabe, Japan.
